MARCH, APRIL & MAY
Kick off spring in the sweetest way at Maple in the County (the in-person event did not take place in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic; stay tuned for 2022). Work off your sugar rush by touring local sugar bushes, visiting with farm animals, and dancing to live music. Local vineyards and restaurants also celebrate by serving all things maple throughout the weekend.
County Pop Music Festival is a one-day event in early May featuring live music, food trucks, and fun kids programming including cape-making, face painting and kid-sized rock instrument jamming!
The Kids Fishing Derby takes place at the Bloomfield Mill Pond Park in May. It is open to kids 12 and under who compete for “Strangest Catch” among other prizes. Follow the Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee for up-to-date info.
JUNE, JULY & AUGUST
The County Kids of Steel Triathlon takes place in June at the Prince Edward Fitness & Aquatic Centre, and is open to kids aged 3-17.
Music in the Park – The Lions District Club hosts free live music concerts in Wellington Park in Wellington on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. from late June until early September.
Prince Edward County Lavender hosts its annual Lavender Festival over two weekends in July. Take in the free airborne aromatherapy as the kiddos enjoy face painting, a petting zoo, and balloon making; they might even encounter a lavender fairy!
Kids with a need for speed can race down the main thoroughfares during the annual Soapbox Derbies in Milford and Bloomfield.
Kids can churn (and then slather on corn cobs) their own butter and play heritage games at Ameliasburgh’s Homesteaders Heritage Festival. It takes place at the end of summer.
