
Your 2025 Guide to March Break Family Fun in Prince Edward County
March Break 2025 brings magic workshops, Paddington in Peru, abundant public skating opportunities, and an early spring favourite – MAPLE everything!

Saturday March 8th
The Picton Library is offering its regular weekly Storytime and Singalong from 10:30-11:30 AND a Telescopes for Beginners workshop from 2-3! A complete guide to choosing and using a first telescope to discover the mysteries and treasures of the universe. This talk will include all types of beginner to intermediate telescopes and the basics of smart telescopes. Info here.
Maple Madness! This sweet month-long celebration has lots of fun activities in store for kids and their grown-ups. The more family-friendly stops include: Walt’s Sugar Shack (pancake breakfast); Sugarbush Vineyards (walking trail with maple trivia, hot chocolate); Campbell’s Orchards (maple walk&talk, pancake breakfast on Saturdays – book ahead); and Waupoos Winery (with wagon rides to the sugar bush, farm animals to say hello to, and maple taffy)!

Paddington in Peru is showing at The Regent Theatre at 2 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets here. Kids’ tickets are $10 all in.
Sunday March 9th
The 6th annual PEC Period Party is being hosted by The Department of Illumination in their studio on the lower level of the Picton Armoury from 1-4. All ages and genders are welcome to this fun & free event promoting menstrual health and education. This year’s theme is “Puberty VS Perimenopause”! There will be games, snacks, crafts, a photo booth and lots of learning opportunities. More info on the PEC Period Party and Department of Illumination socials.

Monday March 10th
Early on PEC is hosting Playgroups from 9-11:30 and 1-3 – “Comfy Monday – PJs, stuffies, and lightshow in the gym”. For details check out their Facebook page.

Tuesday March 11th
Check out Rhythm Kids with Halliday from Music Together at the Picton Library from 10-11! Designed specifically for pre-K and early elementary students, active Rhythm Kids® classes for big kids tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun. Early on PEC is hosting Playgroups from 9-11:30 and 1-3 at the HUB – “Snack Day – Cheerio necklaces and trail mix making, lego morning”. For details check out their Facebook page.

Wednesday March 12th
Early on PEC is hosting Playgroups from 9-11:30 at the HUB with an art theme AND 9:30-11:30 at Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area. For details check out their Facebook page.
Learn to create your very own pop up books at a workshop at the Picton Library from 2-3. Learn tips and tricks that you can use again and again and leave with a finished project. Best for ages 7+. Info here.

Thursday March 13th

Make your own tracks with stamps and take home a self-made track identification booklet.”
Early on PEC is a “Slime Morning” Playgroups from 9-11:30 and Baby Club from 1-3 – come learn and ask questions about infant development with Hiliary Snow, at the HUB. For details check out their Facebook page.
County Creative Gallery is hosting a “Spring Break Snack Plates” pottery painting session from 10-11:30. $12 per person, open to all ages. More info and reserve your spot here.
Drop into Wellington Heritage Museum from 1-4 to make friendship bracelets, inspired by the current Homage exhibit showcasing 41 neckpieces celebrating Canadian women!
Today is March Break in Ameliasburgh! Start your visit at 10 am at the Marilyn Adams Genealogical Research Centre and travel through time in Prince Edward County with author Lynne Grist, as she shares her new book “Treasure at Long Point”. Hear about the continuing adventures of Bella and Joey Wilkins as they travel back to the days of the sailing ships at Long Point and face the power of the Marysburgh Vortex! THEN – Pack a picnic lunch or snacks and head across the road to the big stone church at the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village to explore the museum and enjoy a variety of Maple themed activities and crafts! Friday March 14th
Today’s children’s events at the Picton Library are Toddler Time from 10:30-11:30, Block Coding for ages 7+ (Can you solve the code and build a Lego masterpiece in this activity that ties literacy and Lego together? Register here).
Wellington Library hosts the South Shore Joint Initiative’s Wild Thing Program from 11-5 (info here) – “Come and learn about animal tracks, discover which local animals are out and about in the winter, and how they survive the cold weather. Make your own tracks with stamps and take home a self-made track identification booklet.”

County Creative Gallery is hosting a Painting Pottery with Piglets & Goats event in partnership with Heal Through Horses! From 10-12, $21 per person plus the cost of your chosen pottery piece. Sign up under workshops & events on their website.

The Athol Rec Committee is hosting their 11th annual Scrabble tournament from 11-4! Email atholreccommittee@gmail.com or call or text (613-921-7438) to register. They’ll have refreshments and a pot-luck lunch. Low stakes, high fun, and free to register (a $5 donation would be appreciated, but not necessary). Guaranteed to play two games, meet friends new and old, and have fun being word nerds. All ages welcome. Info on the Athol Rec Committee Facebook page.
