Playgroups & Library Activities
A guide to playgroups, parent support groups, and kids’ library events and activities in Prince Edward County.

Playgroups
Babeez ‘n’ Arms is a free weekly drop-in group for postpartum moms and their babies (12 months and under; older kids are also welcome). It is held every Monday from 11:30-2 at the Wellington United Church in Wellington. Jennifer Howting, Registered Nurse and Lactation Consultant, provides newborn assessments, guidance, and support for new moms and their babies.
The County Breastfeeding Drop In takes place from 10-11:30 on Mondays at the Wellington United Church before the Babeez ‘n’ Arms group (see previous entry). Jennifer Howting, Registered Nurse and Lactation Consultant helps new moms with latching, pain, pumping and other breastfeeding concerns.
The Hub Child and Family Centre offers free playgroups for kids and their grownups at locations throughout the County. Click here for the schedule and locations. Playgroup schedules are generally posted on a daily basis on their Facebook page. Currently there are playgroups every weekday morning, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, Tuesday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
The Hub Child and Family Centre runs Babies and Beyond, a free playgroup for parents and parents-to-be who are 25 years and under. Nurses and other educators and consultants facilitate the program. To learn more, contact Sabrina at the EarlyON Centre at 613-476-3952 or sabrinah@thehubcentre.ca.
Kahwá:tsire Journey Together is a partnership between the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and Tahatikonhsotontie Head Start and EarlyON programming in Prince Edward County. Its unique playgroups incorporate Indigenous language and cultural teachings to participants. Follow them on Facebook to keep up-to-date on the schedule.
Library events and activities
The Prince Edward County Public Library system has six locations throughout the county. Check out the Kids page for an up-to-date schedule of kids’ events and activities. Current weekly events include Toddler Time on Tuesdays and Saturday Morning Stories at the Picton Branch, as well as Maker Clubs for kids aged 7 and up at Sophiasburgh Central School and the Wellington and Picton branches.
