A guide to arts classes (dance, music, theatre, visual art and more) classes for kids in Prince Edward County.
County Acrobatics & Pure Joy Dance offers a variety of acrobatics and dance (including musical theatre) classes, as well as PA Day and Parent’s Night Out programs. Check it all out on their website.
The County Arts Lab, a program of County Arts (Prince Edward County Arts Council), offers kids and youth programming (including through the Youth Craft Academy – multi-level courses for kids aged 13-17 in ceramics, wood, glass, and more) in a variety of art forms. Pricing is on a sliding scale, and bursaries for children’s and youth programs are available.
County Creative Studio offers drop-in pottery painting and special events – sometimes with animal visitors!
New in February 2026 – a 15-week beginners ukulele program for kids aged 7-12, organized by the Athol Rec Committee in partnership with Doane Music School taking place on Thursdays at the Athol Town Hall! The instructor is elementary classroom expert Nick Birnie. Email melanie@doanemusicschool.ca to learn more and register.
The Baxter Arts Centre offers visual arts and dance classes and workshops for kids, both at their location in Bloomfield and at partner venues in Picton and beyond.
Wellington Pottery has offered pottery workshops to groups of 2-20 kids (starting at age 5). Please contact them by phone (613-399-2330) for details.
The County School of Dance may still be operating out of PEFAC, but the website and FB page don’t seem to be up to date.
Music Together PEC, led by Halliday Reynolds, offers music and movement classes for ages 0-5 and their grown-ups.
The Picton Legion Pipes and Drums offer free bagpipe and drum lessons to all ages. It’s not clear whether this is still operating – please visit the website for more details and contact information.
Quintissimo is based on the El Sistema philosophy, aiming to “create positive social change by providing free music education to underserved children in the Bay of Quinte area”. Students receive instruction in cello, flute, choir, and more. The program is currently hosted at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute and accepts new students between Grades 1-4 every year (students Grades 5+ may be considered on a case by case basis). Once a student is enrolled in Quintissimo, they may continue until high school graduation.
