Your 2023 Guide to March Break Family Fun in Prince Edward County
As we know too well, the month of March hasn’t offered us much in the way of fun family activities over the last few years. So I’m feeling extra grateful and excited to finally be writing my first PEC Parents March Break post!

Saturday March 11th
Mary Lambert Interactive Musical Performance from 2-3 at the Picton Library (208 Main Street, Picton). Mary Lambert’s highly interactive musical performance is filled with music about robins, frogs, baby chicks, green grass, budding trees, and all things spring! Attendees will take a musical trip to a tropical destination to escape the winter blues, and then enjoy singing about all the wonderful things that spring to life in spring right here at home! Song, dance, colourful costumes and props and LOTS of audience participation are all a part of this 50 minute performance.
Maple Madness! This sweet month-long celebration has lots of fun activities in store for kids and their grown-ups. The more family-friendly stops include: Walt’s Sugar Shack (pancake breakfast); Sugarbush Vineyards (walking trail with maple trivia, hot chocolate); Indergaard Farm (alpacas, maple popcorn); Campbell’s Orchards (maple walk&talk, pancake breakfast on Saturdays – book ahead); and Parson’s Brewing Co. (ball hockey, brunch).
Sunday March 12th
Free Public Skating from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Wellington Arena, and from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Picton Arena (details here).
Public Swim at from 1-3 at PEFAC. Fees are: Child – $5, ages 12-17 – $8, Adult – $10, Family (two adults and any children living in the home under 21) – $20.

Monday March 13th
Free Public Skating from 10:30-12 and 1-2 at the Picton Arena, and from 10:30-12 and 3-4 at the Wellington Arena (details here)
Tuesday March 14th
Discover Cosplay (costumes + play) from 3-4:30 at the Picton Library (208 Main Street, Picton). Learn how to take your ideas from vision to reality! Create something for your own Cosplay. Building materials provided. Feel free to bring something you’re already working on! For Ages 10+.
Free Public Skating from 10:30-12 and 3-4 at the Picton Arena, and from 9-10 a.m. at the Wellington Arena (details here).
Wednesday March 15th
Maple Syrup Day from 11-2 at Ameliasburgh Heritage Museum (517 County Road 19) – Themed activities and games, and a special lesson at noon inside the Sugarhouse.
The Great Robot Race from 10:30-11:30 at the Wellington Library (261 Main Street, Wellington) OR 2-3 at the Picton Library (208 Main Street, Picton). Experiment with the Library’s robots and then participate in the Great Robot Race! For Ages 8+.
Free Public Skating from 8-9 and 2:30-4 at the Picton Arena, and from 10:30-12 and 1-2 at the Wellington Arena (details here).
Thursday March 16th
Signs of Spring Day from 11-2 at Ameliasburgh Heritage Museum (517 County Road 19) – Themed activities and games, and a special lesson at noon at the DeVries Gallery.
Discover Voice Acting from 2-3:30 at the Picton Library (208 Main Street, Picton). Do you know whose voice you’re listening to when you watch your favourite cartoon or listen to an audiobook? Learn all about voice acting with Amanda, “RealAmanda” on Twitch, and then try recording your own voice using the library’s audio equipment. For Ages 8+.
Free Public Skating from 10:30-12 and 3-4 at the Picton Arena, and from 10-11 at the Wellington Arena (details here).
Friday March 17th
St. Patty’s Day from 11-2 at Ameliasburgh Heritage Museum (517 County Road 19) – Themed activities and games, and a special lesson at noon at the Log Cabin.
Toddler Tea Party & Storytime from 10:30-11:30 at the Picton Library (208 Main Street, Picton). Join us for a special edition of our regular toddler storytime featuring a tea party. Bring your favourite stuffed animal to introduce to your friends.
Free Public Skating from 10:30-12 and 4-5 at the Picton Arena, and from 10:30-12 and 4-5 at the Wellington Arena (details here).

PEC Period Party! This year’s edition of this popular period product fundraiser for local schools takes place at the Regent Theatre (224 Main Street, Picton). Menstrual vendor market, trivia, door prizes, film screening of “My Girl” and fun fun fun! FREE to all, but period product donations welcome. Doors at 1, movie at 2.

Other Activities in and around Prince Edward County

- Waawaateg (March 10th-31st in Kingston) is an interactive light installation in Confederation Park representing the Northern Lights along with five unique art installations created by Indigenous artists and storytellers featuring their understandings, stories and creative arts to the world.
- The Quinte Museum of Natural History‘s new exhibition on WHALES opens on Wednesday March 15th! $8 per person, children 5 and under are free. Visit their website for details.

March Break Camps
- PEFAC is running a March Break Camp on Wednesday March 15th-17th from 8:30-4:30 for ages 4-12. $35/day or $90 for the 3 days. Call (613-476-7776) or visit to register.
- The Hub Child and Family Centre is running a camp from Monday-Friday over March Break from 7-5:30 at PECI and possibly Kente. Contact Caitlin Cronkwright to inquire about availability – 613-503-1297 / caitlinc@thehubcentre.ca.
